Foreword: Refuse to be a "Disloyal, unfilial, callous and unrighteous" person

The original motivation to found The Maverse was simply to do a Mahjong related project. We were concerned about legal restrictions when designing the game as Mahjong is often associated with gambling. Soon after that, we set about team establishment, project research, business model design, and discussion with legal consultants, excluded every potential gambling elements from our projects. That’s when we realized that GameFi industry still stayed in a chaotic state.

People around the world take part in NFT industry one after another as project owners or investors; however, projects rarely create win-win situations for both parties. This phenomenon is more obvious in GameFi, many project owners rug pulls investors, also many actors didn’t join projects early enough and missed the chance to earn money, “Play to Earn” turned into “Pay to Learn”.

“This is a so-called disloyal, unfilial, callous, and unrighteous act” this saying was stated in the textbook that we’ve all once read. Back then, it was not easy for us to comprehend how bad that kind of act is in real life. Now we know that if anyone chooses the Ponzi scheme-like GameFi to cheat others, they conduct a “callous and unrighteous” act; if investors join the projects based on their trust to the owners but eventually suffered from a scam, the project owners should take the blame for their “disloyal” act; and whoever do such things to embarrass their parents conduct an “unfilial” act. Based on the definition above and now think about it, there are actually many project owners have done such things to their investors, but it doesn’t mean that kind of act is acceptable.

We’ve spent much time on re-scheduling, re-designing, and amending business plan. Now we are trying to get into a field which has never been explored. We don’t know if what we’ve done will pay off, but we’ve already thought through all the possible issues that might occur and sought advices from professionals of various fields, finally we’ve come up with a design with a whole new business model. In our imagination, if this business plan is going to work, we will change the entire business model of GameFi and save many potential future victims from schemes.

It might sound idealistic but it’s a purely righteous thing to do, and hence we will be not fall back when meeting difficulties and challenges. We humbly hope that our project could part the dark clouds to reveal a silver lining of GameFi industry.
